just wanted to share this little bit of coolness!!
when Robert Hunter was still responding to email, I would write
to him like every month or so.
Soooooo, I decided to go gather some beautiful
leaves, pressed them between some clear contact paper and sent them
to him.
He told me he taped them all over his kitchen window...

from the beginning of '97 -
it was decorated
with a drawing by his partner - it looks like a kitchen table and
in the background are these orange/yellow maple leaves seemingly
suspended in air. Could it be? I sent him mail to ask...and YES!
they -are- the leaves I sent him...cool!
In one correspondence that took
place in that most-beautiful-month-of-the-year, October, I was
raving about the beauty of the trees around here and asked him if
they experienced anything like that in California.
He told me no,
but that he had been in New Hampshire once in October and had
gathered leaves to bring home with him. When he got home, though,
the colors had faded...
