My name is Debess,
which is the Latvian word meaning the skies or the heavens.
I chose this name for myself more than 20 years ago when I was about 20, because I wanted an unusual name.
I like the meaning of the word - it, in a way, describes who I am because it indicates lots of different things that I'm interested in.

For instance, I'm fascinated by the celestial bodies found in the skies.
I live pretty far from city lights in New Hampshire, so I have some nice views of the night skies to enjoy.

And, as another example,
I've found myself on a lifetime journey searching for the spiritual.
I am encouraged in my journeys of these various heavens
by my association with Unitarian Universalists.

My greatest passion (some call it fanatical)
is for the music that sends me, body and soul, into space -
the Grateful Dead.

Undoubtedly, my little bit of heaven on earth is my family:
my partner Guntis, and our 3 children -
Andra Laurel, Lara Elise and Eli Able.
